Prepare a
demo.
A good demo is easy to open, easy to understand and strong enough to speak before the biography does.
1. Send your strongest finished music
One convincing track is better than a folder of sketches. The current #thatechno form accepts up to five tracks, but there is no prize for filling every slot.
2. Make the links frictionless
Use a private SoundCloud, Dropbox, Drive or WeTransfer link that opens without asking the listener to request access. Check it in a private browser window before submitting.
3. Give useful context
Include the artist name, real name, working email and one relevant artist or social link. Add only the release context the A&R team needs to understand the record.
4. Keep the pitch short
Describe the music, not your life story. Mention something meaningful only when it changes how the track should be understood.
5. Know the catalogue
Listen before submitting. A strong record sent to the wrong label is still the wrong submission. #thatechno focuses on underground techno and values identity over trend imitation.
